Gather Your Tools

  • Tape measure (10m+ recommended)

  • Pencil & paper (Download our printed grid room example)

📐Optional: Using a Laser measurer level, AR smartphone measuring tool

2

Draw a Rough Floor Plan

  • Sketch the layout of your room, including all walls, windows, and door openings. Don’t worry about it being to scale—just get the general shape.

💡 Tip: Label each wall (Wall A, Wall B, etc.)

3

Measure Wall Lengths

  • Start with Wall A and move around the room clockwise.

  • Record each measurement clearly on your floor plan sketch.

💡 Tip: Measure from corner to corner and ignore skirting boards for now.

4

Mark Windows, Doors & Openings

  • Measure the width and height of every window and door.

  • Mark how far each one is from the nearest corner.

💡 TipDon't forget to record the height from the floor to the windowsill and top of window frame.

5

Measure Ceiling Height

  • Use a tape measure or optionally a laser measuring tool to measure from floor to ceiling at multiple points.

💡 TipWatch for bulkheads or uneven ceilings.

6

Check Power Points, Plumbing & Vents

  • Mark down all electrical outlets, switches, plumbing pipes, taps, and vents.

💡 Tip: Take photos of each wall to reference later when designing.
